Pisgah Bike Week Rolls On

More images from sunny (most of the time) Asheville. Sporadic rain and thunderstorms are conspiring to make today an off day, which our legs, arms, and backs are appreciating after over 17 hours of riding in the last five days. We've been sleeping late, eating huge amounts of awesome southern food, and riding everything we can; it's what these bike weeks are all about right. A few more days of riding, and more photos to come. Stay tuned.

Pisgah Heartbreak

The French Press Racing crew is down south for a week right now hitting up the unending awesomeness that is Pisgah National Forest. Yesterday we rode a little trail called Heartbreak Ridge, and by little I mean one of the longest sustained singletrack descents west of the rockies. Think west coast scale meets east coast tech and you have Asheville. There's a reason I keep coming back. Awesome people, awesome trails, great food, and more breweries than you can hit up in a week.

Roots, rocks, and fast singletrack. That's why we came down. There's no shuttling around here though, so to get the good trails you have to climb, like a lot.

But the trails are rad, the people are awesome, the views are incredible, and the mountain laurel is in blossom.

More photos to come as the week progresses. Stay tuned.

Opening Weekend at Millstone

Got in six hours on a beautiful Sunday at Millstone this past weekend; pretty solid day to kick off a big volume week I think. The mix of slow speed technical sections and high speed "built" trails sure makes for fun riding. Here are a few shots, more on the way soon.

Built and Ridden

Well, not quite. But I do seem to be way more motivated to work on the backyard trails then to train these days. Something about cold, rainy weather and having watched to many DH/Trail Riding edits on the old internet. Oh well. We had a trail building party or sorts over the weekend, and while we're a long way from finished, a few sections are coming together. Thanks to Ryan for snapping some sweet photos.

Singletrack!

The trails are riding super well right now. Sure, it might be a little cold, and the sun might not be out in force, but the trails are still a blast to ride. A few shots from the Stowe Town Loops yesterday. Hope you get a chance to get out there!

Building Singletrack

Working on some new trails locally. Lots of rock and not a lot of dirt is making things interesting. More pictures soon. Hopefully we'll be riding it in a couple of weeks.

Road Rides and Planning

Well, it hasn't been 80 degrees in Vermont recently, but it hasn't been freezing cold either. In fact, the road riding's been pretty decent. Even the dirt roads are riding well, which has been fun. I've been doing my best to get lots of base miles in and to seek out hills when and where I can find them.

North Carolina training camp is coming up in two weeks. From what I here people down there have been riding hard for a while now. Hope I'm ready.

I've also been spending a lot of time in front of the computer planning the race season, ordering equipment for the new race bike (details coming soon), and doing lots of interviews for MTBRacenews.com.

The weather has also been very conducive to one of my new favorite recovery drinks, Rock Art's seasonal Pumpkin Imperial Stout (which is brewed with pumpkin mash and spruce tips, yum).
